ReadyNAS 214: Shares page won't display "Available" and "Consumed" information

That is expected if quotas are disabled on the data volume. An OS Re-install will disable quotas on the data volume and quotas are also disabled by default on volumes created on recent firmware.
If you go to System > Volumes, click on the Settings wheel and go down to Settings you'll see the option to enable quotas.
Note if you have a huge number of snapshots then having quotas enabled may lead to higher memory usage. This is more likely to be an issue on the 100 series which has 512MB RAM than on your RN214 which has 2GB RAM.
