Hi! I had a failed disc on the unit so decided to replace both with same size 3TB WD red drives. Replaced the first following the standard procedure. No problems, left it for a day to ensure all was ...

Not as far as I know.
Some users report problems with the DM disks. Perhaps test that disk too.
Did the resync only take 1 hour with all the disks you tried?

Thanks mdgm,
No - I didn't test the new discs. Can't access the unit so not sure about the firmware. I recall updating in the last 6 months or so.

Whatever you do you are going to have to test both new disks before proceeding.
Wd lifeguard extended tests take a long time.
I would power down, remove the disks, reinsert your old disk 2 (the one you exchanged second) and power on. This may get you back to the situation you were in after you inserted the first new disk. If at least one of the new disks is ok , and the old disk allows normal access to your volume, then you can try to insert a new disk again.
Could you access the data after the first disk exchange?
One hour is far too short a time for the resync to have completed, you were correct to be suspicious. Did you look and confirm that the volume was redundant at this stage?
