ReadyNAS 312 space hasn't been freed after deleting iSCSI

As the subject says, I created a 1TB iSCSI share, assigned it to a LUN, but decided that I wanted a smaller size share, so deleted it. I've also deleted the LUN group.

However the size still hasn't updated and is still showing as though the 1TB iSCSI share is still active.

Anyone had this before and/or know how to rectify it?

Many thanks,

Chris

What did you call this LUN?

It appears your volume is quite full, possibly from snapshots.

Can't see any .purge directory show that has already been deleted if it was created.
  • alright...strange
I checked the different folders and get approx. 450 gb of data...ofcourse it is mirrored but then should be about 1tb. not close to my limit on 1,8tb?

    LUN?

I'm seeing usage around 700 GB. Snapshots will mean space is not freed up from some deleted files.

You could possibly try and delete some snapshots and see if that helps.
  • ok but howcome that when I just now deleted about 6gb and still have the same amount of GB stored?
    Thanks again!

oh, were do I find the snapshots?

Under Shares > Timeline in the Dashboard

The 6GB you just deleted would be retained via your snapshots.
  • Alright...I think I missunderstood. I deleted all the snapshots and all of my data was removed. Well that sucks. a lot. Fuck

Deleting the snapshots wouldn't delete the data currently in the share.

    Do you have a backup?
  • Uh, I have some shares with snapshots created while I was loading things up. I'd like to delete them and I'm a little paranoid after reading this. To delete a snapshot I would go to the recovery view and select a snapshot icon and then select delete? Are you sure this will not impact my current data?

I've done this, and have never lost data as a result.
  • I deleted all snapshots for a bunch of shares I didn't need snapshots on and had no problem. Thanks.
