ReadyNAS 526x Backup to iOSafe running Synology NAS
Hello Everyone,
I am new to posting to the forum and I realize (after searching a bit) that there are "parts" of answers to this question across the forum in various locations. So, apologies in advance if this is duplicative. I am a semi-sophisticated home user (running a small business) with a 526x that is currently at ~9Tb of Data. I am wanting (to get into the appropriate 3-2-1 backup plan) to backup to another NAS. I was looking at an iOsafe version that is "disaster" compliant, however, it runs Synology NAS.
It appears possible to "backup" the 526x to the Synology NAS using something called rsync? I am not sure if that is something extra I need to do or install or if it is native. I use MacOS BigSur on a MacBook Pro M1 and just didn't know if the backup was something easily achieved from the backup tab on the admin page. I have not purchased the backup NAS yet as I did not want to be stuck with a solution that was not relatively simple and seamless.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated. And thank you in advance.

Yes. Rsync is a standard linux tool, and you can set up backup job(s) on the ReadyNAS that use the Synology NAS as a destination.
But if the Synology is on a different network than the ReadyNAS, then you will want to use rsync-over-ssh (which is encrypted), and not just rsync (which is not encrypted). There are some guides on how to set this up for ReadyNAS->ReadyNAS in the kb articles, but of course that will need some adaptation for the Synology.
