The goal of this NAS was having it connected to both PCs (with 10GbE interfaces and 6TB WDC Reds inside the NAS) to edit simultaneously 4k video on both PCs.
We ended up buying the switch, works fine now with speeds up to 400Mb/s (with 5 HDDs)
If the volume is fast enough, he can then achieve transfer speeds higher than 125MBps. Worth it or not, if he has 10GbE interfaces on both PC and NAS, I don't see why not using them ;)
The real issue here being the duplicate subnet (if confirmed), not the speed of the NIC.
