ReadyNas Duo V1 Booting and spin up
ReadyNas Duo V1 Booting and spin up
Hi,
My Duo is about 5/6 yrs old. Worked fine for a long time connected to my router. However, it has started at usual from its time of 10am but the disks/fans continue to spin all day unless I unplug from the router. Then it slows down and goes quiet after about a minute. I can now re-connect the router and all is well. This all happens whether the laptop is on or off.
Anyone any ideas what may be causing this?
Thanks in anticipation

- kossbossGuideNetwork traffic causing disk spin up and spin downs?
Wierd.
Can you upgrade to the latest firmware and do an OS Reinstall afterwards.
To do an OS reinstall please check out the boot menu options for your NAS ( http://www.kossboss.com/rnasbootmenu ) - a_burger_with_fAspiranthave you tried to do an OS reinstall? what firmware are you on?
could be old firmware or just an issue on the last update when it was installing - chirpaLuminaryDo you have the Dekoh Photos 1 add-on installed on it? That could cause this to happen, since the service no longer exists, it will get stuck in a loop.
- teachermanAspirantHello,
Thanks for your thoughts. Firmware is 4.1.10 [1.00a043]
No, I don't have Dekoh software installed.
I recall that when this saga started I tried swapping the drive in bay 1 to bay 2. Nothing happened so returned to bay 1. Looking at the logs it seems that the Duo gets itself tangled up thinking there should be a drive in bay 2. Might this be anything to do with the problem?
Nothing improves by reinstalling the hardware.
The drive does seem to be throwing up a lot of errors suggesting it is on its way out.
