ReadyNas Duo V1 trouble with HDD's blue blink forever

My ReadyNas Duo V1 does not work anymore :?

Problem description:
At power it up it will just blink the blue power led and the fan runs at differents speeds and it sounds like the HDD is working. I have kept it on for 3 days but still the same.

If I remove the disks it will show up in Raidar (4.3.4) but I can't do anything with it.

Story so far:
It worked fine and I managed to delete all my shares so I put It aside during the the time I investegated on how to recover my data. Other computer issues inicluding a HDD crash and new computer with Win 7 the Nas sat on the shelf unused for about a year. A while ago I decided to try to use it again as my new computer finally worked ok.

Installed Raidar 4.3.4 and connected the NAS without disks and radiator finds it and status is OK but I can't do anything with it.

Installed the previousl used HDD's 1TB and it stuck with blue blinking led and I can't see it with Raidar

Tried to start skipping the HDD check, same thing
Started with just one disk, same thing
Formated the disk FAT32, NTFS, EXT3 same thing
Tried other disks, same thing
Re installed OS, same thing
Re instaleld OS, from USB same thing

The reinstall from USB seams to work ok ie it starts and leds blink and finally it shuts down but when I restart it still won't accept the HDD's

Any ideas?
Should I be able to see HDD initialation progress with Raidar?
What can break during the un used time on the shelf? internal battery/memory?

/Henrik

  • I managed to uplaad the files via the TFTPD program
Everything looked fine and the files seamed to transfer ok
However the blue light and the 2 green disk LEDs never stopped
After a restart all LEDs are off (eaven the blue)
    I guess I now have a brick (with a fan) :-(

So I guess I will have to buy a new one, the ReadyNAS Duo isn't available anymore here, will a ReadyNAS 102 (RN10200-100EUS) be able to run Squeezebox server program?

  • I have approx the same issue with a Duo v2.
Standing on a shelf one year due to apparant crash (?) during firmware update.
Started today to try to reinstall.
Same Picture - Raidar see empty house, but not with disks inserted.
Without disks Raidar show a blue spot indicating system update (NO disks inserted.)
Has been runnig for three hours now.

Can anybody help showing a thread with similar problems?

    BR Anders
