ReadyNAS expansion options
Hi. I have a couple of ReadyNAS boxes in our data center, both out of drive capacity. RN4220X and RR4312X. Both have eSata ports, presumably for expansion. Is it even possible to add expansion chassis to these boxes, and if so, which models would work? Would a third-party chassis work?

You can use the ReadyDATA Expansion chassis EDA2000 and EDA4000 for both NAS models. An SAS Expansion card is needed so you can use those on the NAS. You can purchase the SAS card using the part code RRSASEXP-10000S.

Thanks for the response. It's rather shocking the cost of the SAS card, particularly when compared with other vendors'. Kind of prices expansion out of being a viable option - a new NAS would be much cheaper, and given that it seems the recommendation is to keep volumes within a single chassis, not much different to a new NAS, functionally.
In any case, thanks for the info - helps in deciding on alternatives.
