Readynas NV+ | Boot Process Frozen
Hello all,
I recently moved my ReadyNAS NV+ from work :) back home. Wired it back up and powered it on. That was about 6PM last night...
The ReadyNAS powered on; shows the LCD display reading:
Obviously the device is gonna go through the standard kernel boot + file system checks + quota checks (disabled on startup) + service startup..
From memory I believe the LCD used to change status - and even the RAIDar discovery tool is supposed to show the boot status..
By 09AM and the LCD status is still the same.. RAIDar isn't find the device on the LAN (in fact the router hasn't allocated a DHCP address yet either).. it's genuinely frozen.
I powered it off and back on again, looks like it's done the same thing again.
My NAS won't boot :( CRIES!!
HELP
**EDIT**
Removed DUO and corrected to NV+

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDuo? or NV+ The Duo doesn't have an LCD display.
Maybe try shutting it off, and removing/reinserting all the drive trays. It is possible that some are lose, esp. if you didn't remove them for transport.
If you joined the forum when you purchased, your warranty is probably still in force (though about to expire). So if you are the original owner, contact netgear at support.netgear.com, as if the unit is bricked you would be able to get a replacement. - jastronomyAspirantOh yeah, it's an NV+..
Sorry I have a DUO too :)
Will try the power + disk eject+insert and get back to you asap. - StephenBGuru - Experienced Useryou could also try the memory test from the boot menu: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _boot_menu
- jastronomyAspirantThanks Ste..
Drive bit done; booting now - I did a Skip Volume Check.. see if that helps. - jastronomyAspirantmemory test results= OK.
Boot process still going..still no sign in RAIDar. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserHow many disks are installed?
- RabbieAspirantMaybe some disks are faulty, or the system is corrupt.
Please ring the netgear local call center.
You also can PM me, then i can check for you. - jastronomyAspirantHello,
Full of disks, 4x 2TB Seagate Barracuda F3 (64MB cache).. nice eco green disks (really low power)
Model: ST2000DL003 | Specs: http://www.seagate.com/files/staticfiles/support/docs/manual/desktop/Barracuda%20Green/100649225c.pdf #Page 11
I got a little frustrated; wanted to watch some of my media - so I held the reset PIN for 5 seconds on power-up.. performed an OS Re-install.
The OS re-install worked perfectly; it now reboots perfectly.. admin password reset to factory defaults, plug-ins and updates need re-installing. but my Users and Shares (more importantly the data) is still on the NAS!
Consider this matter resolved (sledge hammer, meet NUT). - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you check the SMART+ stats for your disks? What firmware e.g. CC32 is on each of your disks?
- jastronomyAspirantNever updated the firmware on a hard disk :)
SMART passes all of the tests.. each disk passes with flying colours..
happy to let this one go, but thanks for offering so much help.
