ReadyNAS NV+ Corrupted Frontview and Booting issues

I am having issues with my ReadyNAS NV+.  The problems seem to be getting progressively worse.  I originally started having issues when booting up.  I found I could get around this by avoiding the volume check.  That worked until recently, now that doesn't seem to work either.  I thought that re-installing the OS might help, but when I did that, now I have a corrupted FrontView.  Based on the previous posts, I think the problem is that the OS memory is full, but I don't know how to fix this.  I am not very telnet or ssh savy.  Can someone help me.

I do have the data mostly backed up, but I would really like to avoid the hours of data copying that will result from a factory reset.  I know the box is old, but I need it to hang on for a few more months before I can get a new one.

  • It looks like a misconfigured backup job filled the 2GB root volume.

There was also a 200MB log related to ReadyNAS Remote (a service which is no longer available).

One option is to use paid netgear support (my.netgear.com) - they can fix this remotely, and of course you won't need to know ssh.

The only other ways are to use ssh, or do a factory reset/restore data from backup.

Thank you for your support in resolving this issue.  My NV+ is running faster than it ever has.

  • I have to give a hugh shout out to the Netgear Teach Support team,  This NAS is at least 15 years old.  I was orignally a ReadyNAS box.  It is out of support and I am just trying to nurse it through another year until I can afford to upgrade.  "mdgm" is the reason that the label on my next NAS will be Netgear.  Thank you for your help.
