Also, are you sure the AFP hangs can really be traced to the switch you're using?
Damn. RAIDiator 4.1.5 reintroduced the error, so it must be some combination/interaction between hardware and software. With 4.1.4, I definitely saw the difference between the two gigabit switches.
I didn't try the "broken with 4.1.4" switch with 4.1.5. I downgraded back to 4.1.4, and everything's stable again with the D-Link switch.
Bottom line: I *really* hope Apple has fixed AFP with Leopard 10.5.7. The ReadyNAS is not the lone sufferer with this AFP/10.5.6 problem; I saw a post on Synology as well.
