Unfortunately, your ReadyNAS NV+ v1 is a Sparc based NAS which is the same architecture as ReadyNAs Duo v1. Sparc-based NAS is a discontinued NAS series and does not support EXT4, there is no update nor SW that will make this support EXT4. Please click here to see the same topic that was answered too.

Thank you. Not the answer I wanted, but appreciate it. I searched for quite some time before posting the question. It's easy to get lost with all the models and what the processor is in them, especially these older units. I installed my ReadyNAS years ago and other than a power suppy failure has been trouble free.
All our currrent model ReadyNAS support USB drives formatted with the EXT4 filesystem. If you must use the EXT4 filesystem on the USB disk it might be time to consider getting a new ReadyNAS. You can seek pre-sales advice on the community. Ask questions and provide general information on what you use your NAS for, how much data you currently have and how quickly you would project this to grow, budget etc. and some good suggestions could be made.
