ReadyNAS NV+ WebDAV No Longer Working
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ running RAIDiator 4.1.14 [1.00a043]. I have a number of shares that are assessable via the web using https. I have a mix of Mac and Windows machines including Windows on the Mac via Parallels.
For years I've used WebDav to connect to some of these web assessable shares. In recent years I've pretty much done that from the Mac side. The last time I used WebDav from the Windows side was back when I was running XP (best I can recall) and I was always able to map a network drive and then access that share over https using file explorer.
Now I have a need to start using WebDav again. I have spent 48hrs racking my brain, reading the forums, and doing just about everything I can think of to get it working. Via the Mac it all still works perfectly. No problem going into the Finder Go->Connect To Server. Works like a charm. However on the Windows side it just won't work on either XP or Windows 7. Now I've read both of the following:
WebDav from XP: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12255
WebDav from Win7: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24815
The first of the two KB articles above ended by saying: "Microsoft has removed the Option to use Basic Authentication on SSL-encrypted Web-Shares. This makes it impossible to connect Windows 7 to a ReadyNAS using WebDAV." but the existence of the second article specifically describing how to make it work on Win7 including a registry hack gave me hope that it was tenable. Alas in-spite of following the directions in both articles in every detail I cannot get WebDav working on Windows XP machines or Windows 7 machines. All I get is a message box that says: "The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred:" Then just below that it says: "An unexpected network error occurred." Gee Microsoft - thanks for the helpful and informative message - NOT!
I am able to access the share via https from Internet Explorer via either XP or Win7 so I know it's not a connectivity thing. Through the browser I can see the folder and the files just fine. Problem is I want to access it like it's a folder in File Explorer (i.e. WebDAV) and I just can't seem to do that anymore.
I have searched the forums exhaustively and I've been working on almost nothing but this for the past 48hrs (I am sorry to admit) but I am now at an impasse. Even tho I have the latest RAIDiator and I've had WebDAV working just fine in the past I tried installing the "fix WebDAV" patch described in the articles above but that didn't work either.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated before I throw in the towel for good.
Thanks,
- Charles

- Update... I am just reading up on ReadyNAS Remote... maybe this will be my answer...
NOPE.... it looks like ReadyNAS Remote has been deprecated in favor of ReadyCloud but ReadyCloud won't discover or allow registry of my ReadyNAS as far asI can figure out. I tried manual configuration but it says; "Note: ReadyCLOUD supersedes ReadyNAS Remote and will become available on Windows and Mac platforms soon."
So as far as I can tell ReadyNAS Remote has been taken away but ReadyNAS Cloud does not yet work...?
- Charles - So am I correct? WebDAV no longer works on Windows 7 (or XP for me) and ReadyNAS Remote is no longer available in favor of ReadyCloud but ReadyCloud is not yet available for Windows or OSX? Seems hard to believe...
