Mar 10, 2014ReadyNAS, Plex, and Sharp Aquos
To make a long story short. My ReadyNAS with the PLEX app installed and Sharp Aquos are in the same internal network (wired). If I go to the Aquos' DLNA menu and pick the PLEX Media Server many videos...

Mar 17, 2014Thanks about the info in the 516 mdgm but I already bought the 316. I am very satisfied with it's performance though. I don't know what PMS version I'm running. If you can direct me to where I can find this information I can let you know.
Btaroli, I am using the Plex Home Theater 1.0 on my laptops which I think is fairly new. It was introduced last year. The Plex Server that I use came with the 316 and it updates when it has to. I have also noticed although the ReadyNAS Server shown on the Sharp Aquos does not show the MKV videos but it still shows more videos than the Plex Server. Yes, it does play the MP4 and avi. videos under the ReadyNAS Server.
As far as the Plex Server on the ReadyNAS is concerned I have very few complaints. Every media file is shown and none are missing on the NAS or my computers. The metadata rarely makes a mistake but it can be a quick fix. Out of over 4,000 movies about 30 were without metadata but this is what I did to manually insert the metadata.
1. Enter into the Plex Server and into the folder of the show/movie with no metadata.
2. The 5th icon from the top on the left hand side is "Fix Incorrect Match". This icon will actually force Plex to visit tvdb.com or The Movie Database.
3. Pick the correct show/movie when a listing given and you will see Plex begin receiving metadata within a few seconds.
So to repeat: No missing files in PLEX home theater, Using DLNA from ReadyNAS Server to Sharp Aquos only the MKV files do not show. The .avi and MP4 files do and they play. What I like is that if you have episodes 1 - 10 of a show once the first episode ends it goes right into the second one and so on.
