ReadyNAS RN104 stuck and not working after 6.7.4 firmware install
Hi everybody, after the last 6.7.4 firmware update my RN104 has strange behaviour. Sometimes it gets stuck and the only way to reboot it is to pull the AC plug. The front button or the back reset ...

You need to replace the disk. I suggest either a WD Red or a Seagate Ironwolf.

Ok thank you!
I think 10Tb Ironwolf should be the right choice to increase my NAS capacity too. What do you think about it?
Can you please link the procedure to replace disk? My NAS is Xraid formatted.
Thank you very much!!!

I think Ironwolf (and WDC Reds) are generally good choices to ReadyNAS.
But I think the RN104 will struggle with volumes that big. Four jbod volumes will certainly be ok, but there is no RAID protection if you use that mode. Perhaps flexraid with two 2x10TB RAID-1 volumes will work out, but I think 4x10TB single or dual redundancy will be pushing things. Volume rebuild times will be very long.
With normal XRAID, 4 TB drives are a more typical size in an RN104.

You do want to back up the data first, since the volume is vulnerable during expansion.
Then you can just remove an old disk, and hot-insert a new disk (all with the NAS running). Then wait for the volume rebuild to complete before you do the next disk. As the volume size grows, the wait will become longer.
