ReadyNAS RN10400 Stuck at Boot Menu
Hi, New thread started as requested. My RN10400 had the plug pulled in error and when re-powered it goes to Boot Menu and sticks. Pressing the backup button changes to "Boot Menu Normal". Pres...

This does sound like hardware failure, perhaps the reset button is stuck in.
If you are the original purchaser from an authorised reseller and if you also purchased this unit less than 3 years ago you should contact support to arrange for a warranty replacement. If not you should either get a new NAS (e.g. RN214, RN424 etc.)
or at your own risk attempt to recover your data using an ordinary x86 Linux PC or with paid Windows software that will work with mdadm RAID and BTRFS.

It will be tomorrow before I can perform this test, as I'm not at home now.
I should have said that, with the disks in lace, the NIC interface ports are lit, but the unit is not seen by RAIDar.
I shall remove the disks tomorrow evening and post the RAIDar report.
KindRegards,
Colin.

Hi,
I have removed the hard drives and restarted the NAS. The same behaviour is exhibited: The power light flashes and the "Boot Menu" message appears in the window. Pressing the backup button will select "Boot Menu Normal". Nothing else happens.
RAIDar says that it cannot find any raid devices on my network, and the NAS does not show in the attached devices list of my router.
Kind Regards,
Colin.

Hi,
Thanks for that.
It is, of course, nearly 4 years old.
I've ordered a 214, as there is a lot of information on there that would take a lot of time to reconstruct.
I shall let you know how i get on.
Kind Regards,
Colin.

Update:
The 214 arrived, I inserted the drives (still in the cages from the 10400) and powered on.
Everything is back, as before.
So, the only dissapointment is that the 10400 lasted less that 4 years. I shall make more thorough backups from now on so if the 214 desn't last longer, I can switch NAS manufacturer.
Thanks for all the help.
Kind Regards,
Colin.
