ReadyNAS RN31200 Won't Boot
Hi all
Was wondering if someone could help me.
I've been using my ReadyNAS RN31200 for many years now with no problems whatsoever.
We had a powercut today and when the power came back on, t...

Do i take it that my NAS is knackered or is there anything else i could try?
It sounds like it is dead. But you could try a USB recovery as a last resort. https://kb.netgear.com/29952/How-do-I-use-the-USB-Recovery-Tool-on-my-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system. It's quite fussy about flash drives - older ones tend to work better.
If you purchase a new ReadyNAS, you can directly migrate the disks. It's best to get an RN420 series or better (those are x86 platforms like your current NAS). The RN422 is the replacement for the RN312 (which was discontinued some months ago).

I have tried it without disk(s) as well and still nothing shows up in RAIDar
It sounds to me like either the chassis or the power brick has failed.
If you are the original purchaser, then I recommend checking your warranty status at my.netgear.com, and if you are still covered then initiate an RMA from there ("replace my defective product" on https://www.netgear.com/mynetgear/portal/myOnlineTicket.aspx).
If you aren't covered by warranty, then you could try a risk-buy of a replacement power brick (3rd party adapters are available for about $20 US on Amazon).

Hi
Unfortunately it was bought back in 2013 and looking on mynetgear everything has expired.
Is there a model number for a 3rd party one or a link perhaps so i know i am getting the right one?
Am from the UK so hopefully they will be on Amazon UK as well.

Also can i just confirm is it the black 'brick' part of the psu i need to replace?

I don't own this particular model, so I can't search on the details of the brick specifications (amperage, voltage, connector, polarity).
There are several options shown on the US amazon site (searching for RN312 power adapter), but they don't show up on the UK site. If you can't sort out the specs from your existing brick, you might need to go with international shipping - unless someone here chimes in with a UK link.

Yes. Again, this is a risk buy - we don't have enough information to know if the problem is the power brick.
Of course another option is to replace the NAS. You can directly migrate your disks to an RN422 for instance (or any RN400, RN500, or RN600 ReadyNAS).
