ReadyNas Ultra 2 - Front USB doesn't hold power

Hi,

I have been using my ReadyNas Ultra 2 to run scheduled back up jobs to a USB HDD attached to the front USB port.

I recently started getting failure emails. On inspection it appears that the Front USB port is struggling. The USB drive lights up when connected. When I connect now it lights for a few seconds then goes off. If I plug the drive into PC it is fine. I have attached to the back (which is awkward) and appears ok, but running some test backups to confirm.

Any ideas what could be wrong and is this an indicator of more serious problems with the power or anything else?

Thanks.

Well, most likely the connector has gotten some damage, or there is a power supply issue.

Either way, if you are the original purchaser and within the 3 year warranty, you should make a support request via support.netgear.com.
  • thanks - i have had less than 3 years, but not sure where my warranty is.........

If you know your purchase date, you simply register on support.netgear.com
  • thanks for the help there - though not sure I know that either

Was it before your forum join date? If so, you could use that (giving up some warranty).

If you purchased on-line and have an account with the retailer, you could look that their order history.
