Yes the new x86_64 models can boot 4.2.x to allow you to backup your files.
Note only the x86_64 models can boot 4.2.x

Hi!
I'm experiencing the same thing with the exact same setup as markhales85. ReadyNAS Ultra 2 with 2x2tb HHD. I've done the factory reset boot option with a spare disk without success. I've pretty much come to terms with my loss.
I'm glad that it worked out for markhales85! Me on the other hand am currently studying and
I'm not prepared to spend that kind of money atm on a NAS solution
Is it possible to insert my disks into a ReadyNAS 102 since it's more in my price range OR do I have to spring for the more expensive models for that kind of "backward compatibility" mdgm-ntgr?

Try contacting support (support.netgear.com) - they should be able to tell you what your options are (and what costs there might be).

Did you purchase it brand new less than 3 years ago?
