Readynas Ultra 4 goes to sleep
Hi
I seem to have a problem with my Ultra 4 that started around the time of the upgrade to 4.2.27.
The unit just seems to go to "sleep". It drops off Raidar and is not available through Windows Network. If I press the power button it shows the correct IP and free space available but I cannot access it till a reboot. When I check the logs after reboot it shows no errors at all.
Within a few minutes of a reboot it goes to "sleep" again.
Power save mode (disk spin down) is off. No errors in the Logs. Health tab shows all green lights.
I found the 4.2.26 firmware and updated to that, without error, same problem.
Any ideas?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you email me your logs zip file (see the link in my sig)? Please note roughly when you rebooted the system.
- JolissaAspirantThanks for any help you can offer. Logs sent.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI see you are using WD Green disks. Have you run WDIDLE3 on these disks?
- JolissaAspirantNo.
No idea what that is. Should I be googling it? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's a tool that can be used to stop WD Green disks from getting a rapidly rising load cycle count.
- JolissaAspirantDo you think that's the issue I am having with this NAS?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNot sure.
At what time roughly did you reboot your system? I don't think you mentioned that in the email. - JolissaAspirant11:10am today was one of them.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI don't see why you lost access in the logs.
- JolissaAspirantOk, any ideas on where to go from here?
I might try to update back to 4.2.27 and see what happens. I seem to have connectivity long enough to update it.
Actually, I get the access issue when I am copying files to the NAS. i.e Get 20% into a 1gb copy and fails, then the NAS just drops off the network again.
