Recycle Bin
Hi, Can anyone tell me how to empty the recycle bin or where I would find options for controlling the size of the recycle bin? Thanks, Gaz.

Hello gaz8080,
I don't think ReadyNAS OS5 has Recycle Bin feature.

ReadyNAS OS 5 does have a recycle bin. On the dashboard, select Configure, then the Shares tab, scroll down in the right-hand pane and you will find a checkbox to enable it. If there is a way to control settings for automatic emptying, or even if it has such a feature that you cannot control, I have not found it in the documentation nor by experimentation. I have not SSH'ed into one to see if I can find anything that way.

Thanks - Yes I can enable/disable it easily enough but can't see any other options for retention etc.

I SSH'ed into a DuoV2. Recycle.conf is there to show how often to empty the bins. Clean_recycle_bins is in cron.daily to do the deed. But the defaults are 0 days and 0MB, which means infinite. And there is definately no visible means of changing the defaults except via SSH. There being no "empty recycle bins" button, you have to venture there and manually delete files.
