Remote Back Ups from NG ReadyNAS 214 in my office to WD MyCloud EX2 in my home?
Hello I currently own a WD MyCloud EX2 at my home and I'm going to buy a NETGEAR ReadyNAS 214 device for my office because the data can be more secure with it's SSD compatibility. Would I be abl...

Not convinced...
You can use an Rsync over SSH backup job or a VPN connection to backup the data between both devices.

Some thoughts about backups ;)
(I'll have to repost that in a separate place as it's no longer relevant to the "issue" discussed there.)

Thanks for all the information and tips! Are you suggesting that I use a third-party software to schedule automatic push back ups going from my Windows VM through a mapped network drive linked to a share on the NAS? If so, can you recommend any software?

Something like that seems good to me yes.
Veeam, Acronis, Symantec, ShadowProtect, PowerShell script, rsync (for Windows), FreeFileSync, Crashplan, Windows Server Backup are names I heard before. But there are LOTS of options. I can't recommend any of them in particular as I didn't personally try any of them in a VMware environment.
(Entreprise customers may use specific softwares I don't know about.)

We use CrashPlan Pro as well and their software is supposed to only be able to back up onto local (offline) devices or their cloud we pay for. However, I got in touch with the support team there and they provided me with a work around for backing up from or to a Windows network drive (to my NAS). Here's a link to the article: http://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/4/Backup/Backing_Up_Files_From_A_Windows_Network_Drive
So step 1 is taken care of! I'll let you know how step 2 goes with everything else we discussed. I know I'm a specific case, but this thread may help someone else in a similar situation.

This should work with the normal CrashPlan as well. With effort Crashplan can be installed on x86 ReadyNAS ("headless"), but that has created problems when the NAS firmware or CrashPlan are updated. Running CrashPlan on a PC that has the NAS data volume mounted is a more robust approach.
I am guessing that they are also suggesting the Crashplan "friend" backup mode. That works for disaster recovery - but you won't be able to access the files from your home systems, due to the encryption. The "friend" is trusted to provide storage, but not trusted with file access.
