The only way this can be done, is as Sandshark said, via Rsync. It is the reason I use Rsync for every backup need that I have.
As a protocol it has an option to "Remove deleted files on target", which is what you are looking for. Unfortunately, this option is not available using SMB backups.

What type system is runing Home Assistant? The only program by that name I'm familiar with runs on Linux (typically, a Raspberry Pi), and rsync is a native Linux protocol. If you simply downloaded a pre-made image for a RasPi or Docker, it could be pared down to not include rsync, but you should be able to add it. From the command prompt on that system, type rsync and see what you get in response.
