    So long as you currently have access to the GUI to export the volume, then you should be fine keeping the data on it and re-attaching it after the factory default.  Just make sure you don't create any shares on the main NAS with the same name as on the EDA.  You may need to disable XRAID to do the import, especially if you have a vertically expanded volume in the EDA.
