Hello Charles
Thanks for the info. I ended up trying to talk to tech support but they quickly had to escalate the case and looks like they want me to pay for help with it even though its still under warranty. I decided to just turn it unplug it and try to do a USB install of the os. That went quickly and it rebooted fine. I was able to login in and access the admin panel and noticed it started to sync the volume data. Well after about 30 min of that it gave the same error. So I just unplugged it and started plugged it back in it booted back up fine again and went back to syncing the volume data.
I though for a min and since its so underpowered system I went in and turned off all the apps I had incuding Virus-Scan and all of the services I dont really need like FTP and itunes. Its been running for 12 hours now no problem still syncing the data though. I have been able to look around the shares and copies a file off and seems to work. Both SMB and AFP are working for me. But I don't want to mess around too much till its done.
I also don't seem to have much luck with the ReadyNAS recently. Bought a RN315 to upgrade from my RN104. Got it suck a scratch drive in like what was recommended. Updated to 6.4.1 was just messing around with settings and loading apps. Rebooted the NAS and itgave me a lcd message of "mount_boot_root +1e9" and I as unable to see the device on any of my comps. Was unable to get in to the boot menu or even do a usb os install either. Tried diffrent drives also and nothing so its getting sent back. Not sure what I want to end up doing now.
Anyways thanks again for the info I will let you know how my RN104 is working after its done syncing the data in about 70 hours or so the admin page says it will take.

That is a kernel error message. I would leave the unit running overnight and see where it is at in the morning. If you have just updated to 6.4.1 from firmware prior to 6.4.0 the update could take quite some time.
As for moving to a newer more powerful model you should:
1. Put a scratch disk (must not be from your array) in the new ReadyNAS
2. Update the firmware on the new unit to at least as new firmware as what you were running on the old unit (preferably the same firmware - could be easiest to update both units to the latest firmware if the old unit is still working)
3. Verify the update was successful
4. Power down, remove the scratch disk
5. Move your disks across.
Note that if a problem is on the disks it will remain when moving the disks to a more powerful ReadyNAS. The OS is installed onto the disks.

Ok thanks I will let it run overnight. Yea I was upgradeing from 2.4 I hope I dont have a problem on the disks used mainly as a media server and file storage lots of work lost if they are bad. Also thanks for the info on upgradeing the unit. Was looking at going to a 314 and that info helps. Gosh
