RN102 setup help

Hi all

I'm a NAS newbie.

Bought the RN102 and a Seagate 3T drive 2 days ago.

Installed the drive, power on, and 2 day later still the flashing power light.
I tried the reset button procesure.... BUT I cannot powerdown the nasbox gracefully.

I expect some finger fault

I see on the bottom OS 6.0.0

Any suggestions PLEASE

  • Can you access the user interface using readycloud or raidar?
Is the disk on the HCL?
Did you test the disk using seagate tools on your PC?
If you can't access GUI and the disk is ok, factory default the unit using the boot menu.

To force a power down, pull the power.

After factory default, try again and post results.

If you are able to get in to the web interface, try upgrading the firmware to the current release (6.1.1)
  • I cannot detect the drive in RAIDar..
My network map is also empty (maybe a problem?)
  • Have you tried a factory default?
I'd suggest if you have checked the disk and its ok, and the factory default doesn't sort it out, that you contact Netgear support. If you bought the 102 new you have 90 day telephone support and of course the warranty.
There is also online support which is very good.

How is your readynas connected to your network?
  • Is there any reason you're not starting off with a redundant volume (2 disks in xraid), rather than a single disk?
  • SUCCESS - Factory default now worked. I think I had it in the volume read only instead of factory default
  • Good.
Please consider using the readynas with 2 disks in xraid, and remember that you must keep backups.
  • Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with the RN102 bought the last Friday. (With 1x 1To WD).
I try the reset to factory default without success,
I try the OS reinstall without success...

The power LED always flash (the other LED are on (act, 1 & 2 LEDs))

I write to the support. I'm waiting their reply.

I can't access to the interface because the power LED flash, the NAS was'nt recognize.

If you are factory resetting anyway, you can try connecting the disk to a PC and deleting the partitions. With Windows that is done with the disk manager (right click "computer", select "manage").
