RN104 upgrading/replacing disks
I have a ReadyNAS 104 that is configured with JBOD. This is just for local media streaming so contingency was never an issue. The thing is that I'm looking to upgrade a couple of 4TB disks to 10T...

My only concern is with the first disk (labelled Data below). Is there any issue with removing and replacing the first disk? I can see that Home Folders were setup there (never used) but I just want to be sure that there is no part of the operating system on this disk. The operating system is actually stored on all disks (in a RAID-1 partition). So no issues there.
Apps are stored on the same volume that holds the home folder. So it would be best to uninstall any apps, and reinstall then afterwords. The NAS will recreate the apps and home folders on a different volume when you destroy the data volume, but it will not reinstall any apps.
If you save the config file, and restore it afterwards, then make sure you either
- save the config after deleting the apps
- restore the config after reinstalling them
If you don't do one of these, then you can end up with corrupted config files (referring to apps that are not longer there). Note doing both of these is a bad idea (you end up potentially removing references to apps that are there).
