RND2150 died at power outage. How to save my data?
I've had my ReadyNAS Duo 2150 since 2009. I've replaced disks a couple of times, and now I have two 1TB disks (mirrored). A couple of days ago, we had a short (2 minutes) power outage. After that...

It took a while for the power supply to arrive, but now it's here. Happy days, the NAS is alive and the data is still readable! :smileyvery-happy:
I'm busy copying all the contents to a USB drive now, to have a current backup. During copying, the NAS unexpectadly shut down at one point, but after power on it's working again and the copying continues.
I'll definitely look for a new solution to my shared data. Perhaps a new NAS (where the disks can be read even if the NAS itself dies), or perhaps some kind of cloud solution. My primary uses are as backup of various data from our laptops in the family, primary photo storage, and music files server for our HEOS system.

Just a quick update. The visit to the store failed, since they don't have the power supply I need in stock. But now I've ordered one that I hope will work. I'll update again when I've received it (hopefully early next week).

You could get a new NAS, and use the duo as a backup NAS - running daily backup jobs to keep the duo up to date.

That's a good thought. Ideally I should move this backup NAS to somewere else geographically, to make sure at least one of them survives fire/lightning/theft/...
I'm not sure how to set up such an automated backup procedure though, but I suppose I'll just have to do some reseach. There are probably lots of descriptions available, unless the RND is unusual in some way. Thank's for the suggestion!

Here are some ways you could look into:
-using rsync-over-ssh backup jobs in the NAS (forwarding ports in the destination router).
-connecting the two locations with VPN routers, so they look like one network. Then use ordinary rsync backup jobs in the NAS
-use cloud backup for the disaster recovery, and keep both NAS local (again using rsync backup jobs). Crashplan (and Amazon Cloud Storage) are available for $60 per year at the moment. This is easiest if there the cloud backup runs through a PC on your network.
-If there is a PC at the duo location that is regularly used, you could use bittorrent sync in both locations to synchronize duo folders with the new NAS
