Rsync Server: Error connecting to ReadyNAS
Please help!
I have been trying to set up a Rsync backup between a ReadyNAS Pro 6 and another ReadyNAS Pro 6, but keep getting the error message "Error connecting to ReadyNAS1" when I test the connection to the backup source.
Details are as follows:
ReadyNAS1 = the primary ReadyNAS Pro 6
ReadyNAS2 = the backup ReadyNAS Pro 6
Both ReadyNAS' reside are on the same LAN
Both ReadyNAS' have Rsync activated
Both ReadyNAS' have a share "nas_ilt"
\\READYNAS1\nas_ilt
\\READYNAS2\nas_ilt
Both ReadyNAS' have Rsync Default Access: Read-only
ReadyNAS1 has Hosts allowed access: ReadyNAS2
ReadyNAS2 has Hosts allowed access: ReadyNAS1
On the ReadyNAS2 "Add a New Backup Job" screen, when I enter the following parameters and click on "Test connection" a popup box displays the message "Successfully connected to ReadyNAS1"
Drop down box: Remote: Rsync Server
Host: ReadyNAS1
Path: <Left Blank>
Login: <Left Blank>
Password: <Left Blank>
On the ReadyNAS2 "Add a New Backup Job" screen, when I enter the following parameters (addition of the share path) and click on "Test connection" a popup box displays the message "Error connecting to ReadyNAS1"
Drop down box: Remote: Rsync Server
Host: ReadyNAS1
Path: nas_ilt
Login: <Left Blank>
Password: <Left Blank>
On the ReadyNAS2 "Add a New Backup Job" screen, when I enter the following parameters (replace the host name as per the global settings with the host's current IP address) and click on "Test connection" a popup box displays the message "Successfully connected to ReadyNAS1"
Drop down box: Remote: Rsync Server
Host: 10.0.0.5
Path: nas_ilt
Login: <Left Blank>
Password: <Left Blank>
I have tried various permutations with a "/" and "\" before and after the ReadyNAS1 and nas_ilt entered, have tried setting up a push sync from ReadyNAS1 to ReadyNAS 2, have read the "ReadyNAS for Business RAIDiator Software Manual", read "Using Rsync for NAS-to-NAS Backups", sifted through the ReadyNAS community forum and sifted through numerous online searches and all articles reflect that I am entering the data correctly on the "Add a New Backup Job" screen.
:? I am completely at a loss here. The host name as per the global settings should be adequate. Using an IP address is risky as the IP address can change whereas the host name will remain constant.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredOn the Remote ReadyNAS did you enable the Rsync service under Services > Standard File Protocols, then under Shares > Share Listing > Sharename > Rsync enable it for the share (don't forget to click apply)?
What version of RAIDiator are you running?

Both ReadNAS' are running RAIDiator 4.2.24 - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat about a share with no underscore in the name.
