SEAGATE ST10000NM0086 Drives
Want to confirm that Seagate's ST10000NM0086 Drive is compatible with a 51600 or a 626X or a 628X NAS. TIA!

The drives that are listed on the HCL gone through testing and proved that work fine with the NAS. As for when the HCL will be updated we have not receive any notification yet from the department that handle it. For now we recommend to get the one's that are listed on the HCL.

Seagate's ST10000NM0086 is not listed as compatible hard drive under HCL of the NAS. There are 10 TB hard drives that are listed that is compatible with the NAS, we recommend to get an hard drive that are listed on the HCL for your readynas device.
Please note: NETGEAR Support can and will deny support on devices using drives not found on the official compatibility list.

I understand this drive is not on the HCL List, but it has the same interface as a IronWolf Pro ST10000NE0004, thus the question. The difference is 2Tb in space plus the 0086 drive is an Enterprise Level Drive with almost twice the MTBF Rating.
There is also the question of 512e vs. 4Kn Interfaces. The HCL lists both of these interfaces for 8Tb Seagates, but nothing for 10 & 12 Tb drives. I have seen other threads stateing the NAS can handle these drives as well.
If this is true about 10 & 12 TB drives, if the NAS can handle both 512e & 4Kn 8Tb drives, why couldn't it also handle 512e & 4Kn 10Tb drives?
I am leaning toward Enterprise Level drives because they are more robust. Am currently running 6 x ST4000VN0001s which are Enterprise NAS Drives. So again, Enterprise Level drives should also work as long as they have compatible 512e & 4Kn interfaces.
It strikes me that Netgear has not updated the HCL for these newer drives. The latest Seagate 12Tb drive has a dual 512e & 4Kn Interface, but there are no 12Tb drives listed on the HCL, which tells me that Netgear just has not updated the HCL.
So I guess the main questions are: Is the NAS running Firmware 6.8.0 limited in the size of the drive AND is the NAS compatible with both 512e & 4Kn Interfaces?
Would also appreciate getting me in contact with your engineering to discuss these questions.

Because the HCL has an 8Tb Enterprise Level 4Kn drive listed, I am leaning toward a Seagate 10Tb Enterprise Level Drive ST10000NM0146. 4Kn drives are taking over from 512e drives and are more efficient plus there is the Enterprise Level specs that make the Enterprise drives more robust.

NETGEAR Community TeamI get that this is a frustrating response, because the enterprise-class drive you want to use is almost certainly compatibile.
But unfortunately that is Netgear's positon on the HCL.
Yeah, very frustrating. Finally talked to an engineer in Salt Lake yesterday who was very, very knowledgeable. I settled on the Seagate ST10000NM0146 Enterprise 10TB in the 4Kn Interface.
