Setting up a guest account? 6.2.0

Hi everyone

I am trying to setup anonymous guest access to my ReadyNAS 102 on 6.2.0

I have a share called "Documents" which has read/write access to 'Everyone' and has the boxed checked to allow anonymous access. When I go to \\nas on my network Windows prompts me to login with a username and password. Is there a way to disable this, to allow me to have guest access?

Generally this happens when the windows account happens to have the same username as an account on the NAS.

By default, Windows presents its username/password to the NAS when you access it. If the username exists on the NAS and the password doesn't match, then Windows prompts for a user/password. That happens even if guest access is enabled for the share.

    There are two "fixes" -
    (a) enter a credential for the NAS in the windows credential manager.
    (b) use the same password on the NAS and the Windows PC for that account.
  • Now that you mention it, the machine that I am using does have the same username. But a more secure password since it is accessible through the web.

Do you know if it is possible to create two users with the same name but different passwords on ReadyNAS?
