**How to Set Up Your NAS: A Quick Guide**

Just follow the steps you will be fine.

Also im assumming you know your way around a computer.

 

1. **Hardware Installation:**
Plug in your drives and allow the firmware to install itself. If you've completed this step, you're on the right track.

2. **Initial Access:**
- Default Credentials: Use the default login credentials - username: *admin*, password: *netgear1*.
- Patience is Key: Ensure a smooth installation by patiently waiting for the firmware to complete its setup.

3. **Accessing the NAS for Configuration:**
- Open Internet Explorer (IE): Access the shared location via IE for initial setup.
- Browser Settings: In Microsoft Edge, go to Settings, click on Default Browser, and enable sites to reload in IE mode.
- Appearance: Enable the Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) button.

4. **Connecting to the NAS:**
- Type the assigned address from your DHCP server into your browser.

5. **Configuration and Share Creation:**
- Set up your NAS and create desired shares.

6. **Visibility of Shares:**
- **For SMB Compatibility:**
- Open PowerShell as Administrator.
- Check SMB1 Status: `"Get-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName SMB1Protocol"`
- Enable SMB1: `"Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName SMB1Protocol"` (Note: Your PC will restart).
- Disable SMB1 (if needed): `"Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName SMB1Protocol"`
