SFTP Sync
Hi,
Is it possible for me to sync a folder via SFTP with a remote server?
Is there a SFTP client app or something i can use?
Some of these maybe? http://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9
Thanks in advance.

- rebbyAspirantIf you enable SSH, you can do an rsync over SSH. I do this with my devices and it works pretty well.
- patchie1AspirantI havent tried your solution.
But the thing is that i wanna use my ReadyNas as a CLIENT, for this sync operation.
I have a server online somewhere, and i want to sync some files with this server.
I don't want to reveal the passord for my ReadyNas on this server anywhere, therefor i want to use my ReadyNas as a client så i can insert the online server's cridentials on my ReadyNas instead.
Therefor, my question still stands.
Is it possible for me to sync files over SFTP or any other encrypted way, with me using the ReadyNas as a client?
For example a SFTP client app for my ReadyNas? - StephenBGuru - Experienced Userrebby's reply is responsive - if you log into the NAS you can run rsync over ssh as a client, the link would be encrypted, and would not reveal your credentials. You would need to get the public ssh key from the online server, and install it into the ssh authorized_keys file. If the remote server supports rsync, that will work - though it can be tricky to set up.
Super-poussin includes the Monsta FTP client in his add-on dropbox (viewtopic.php?f=153&t=70914). There's an overview here: http://www.noupe.com/freebie/monstaftp- ... 78481.html
Monsta doesn't support SFTP, but it does support FTPS (otherwise known as FTP-SSL). - patchie1AspirantStephenB, thanks.
But i have understood on other users that rsync can be very slow. Is this correct?
Or maybe it wont be a problem since it will sync all the time, and only sync the changes? - StephenBGuru - Experienced Userrsync is normally run incrementally. It doesn't run all the time, you would set up a schedule.
It is a CPU hog, but I run it on my RN102 (locally backing up my Pro) and it keeps up easily. In your case, I think the speed is likely be limited by your internet uplink. How fast is your connection?
FTPS is secure, so it is another possibility. - patchie1AspirantThanks StephenB, i will try it out :)
I have a 100mbit, and remote server is 10gbit
I will be syncing large files like 3-10gb - StephenBGuru - Experienced User100 mbit is your internet connection? Or your local LAN? Often the internet connection is asymmetric (with a slower upload speed than download). Upload speed is what matters here.
