Share problem NV
Hello,
I have a problem creating a new share on my NV.
I have added a new volume and when I try to create a new share on this volume I can't then access from windows XP or 7.
Anytime I try to map the network drive using the share created the system ask me for a password but there is no password set up on the share that I have created.
The share has been created using the same option that I have set up for all the other shares.
I have also created a new share for a different volume but I have the same problem.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thanks

- RXLuminaryWhat is the current FW version of your NAS?
Is your NAS set to User mode?
Is your NAS an NV+ v1 or v2? Check this link: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/ - atai1Aspirant

4.1.14
What means "User mode"?
is a NV model - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere are two security modes "share" and "user" mode. "Share" is deprecated, and only shows up on older NAS (e.g., it would disappear on a 4.1.14 system if you did a factory reset).
There is some information on how to migrate to user security mode here: http://readynas.sphardy.com/2010/09/how ... _4917.html - atai1AspirantOK clear now.
My security mode is "share".
I never had problems before.
Why now I can't work with new share anymore? - atai1AspirantSo this means that I can't create new share anymore if I don't migrate to "Security mode"?

There are issues with share security mode and newer versions of Windows - that is why Netgear deprecated it.atai1 wrote: So this means that I can't create new share anymore if I don't migrate to "Security mode"?
Some users are still using it successfully. Personally I've always used "user mode" security. - atai1AspirantThanks a lot for the answers.
I have switched the Security mode to User mode and now all the shares works - RXLuminary

I am glad to know that switching to User mode make it work :D Cheers!!! - atai1Aspirantunfortunatelly I have bad news
After this change on the set up I am no more able to select my music using Sonos.
I am also using a mediaplayer for see my movies and also this do not work any more.
But the very bad thing is if I try to go back to the previuos set up the systems do not work idem
Can somebody explain me what is goin on?
On many years of use of this NAS i never had problem using the Security mode on share.
Sonos is fixed now but for the mediaplayer this is the answer from the forum of the vendor:
"The HiMedia video player is only compatible with anonymous shares" - atai1AspirantThis is the message that I have from the mediaplayer vendor:
(please note if you use XBMC/KODI to play files from SMB network, the SMB network should have no User ID and Password.)
Do you think there is a way to handle this with my NV?
The very strange thing is that everything was working perfect until I switched the securuty mode except for the volume inserted (but it's empty at the moment)
It depend by the FW version?
If yes it's possible to reinstall an old FW version?
