Shares now ReadOnly?

Hi,

Apologies for asking yet again about this sort of thing but I've not been able to find anything in the Forum that helps (so far).

I've just moved from an Intel SS4000-E NAS to a NV+ V2 for use at home. I've set the three shares I had up as vanilla, read/write sub-directories that anyone can access in the house. When we're happy that we can use the stuff we've moved, then I can provide some privacy but in the meantime, we should be able to use everything.

Until this morning, this was the case. As of this morning, all on the NAS is now Read-only, irrespective of what I try to do in ReadyNAS 1.0.0.251. The Public share has Everyone with R/W access, recycle bin, oplocks and automatic permissions, there aren't any users defined within the NAS except for Admin, and yet I can't write a file onto it. I can provide Admin user and password details to my WinXP programs, yet they still say 'Access denied'.

The thing that changed last night was that I managed to convince the NAS that it could go from 'Non-redundant' to 'Redundant' by re-syncing one of the drives, which duly succeeded last night. I've "Reset Permissions" on the share to no avail...

There's obviously something staring out of the NAS wondering why I'm so slow but I just don't see it; any help would be much appreciated,

thanks.

  • I don't think this is a very happy NAS....
I just tried to create a vanilla user, so I could see whether it was simply picky about its config, and I got

    Error in commitdba
    Commit failed
    The add user process failed.
    Code:2013030000

This now sounds like the internal setup is corrupt. Anyone seen this before?
  • It's taken 15 minutes so far, and has been at the "Installing addon" message for most of that. No activity from the lights, not sure this is going anywhere...
  • The standard Photos one, to which I added the DLNA update...

You may wish to open a tech support case and post your case number.
  • case # 19705103 - they just suggested that I should do an OS re-install...
  • Re-install failed on the add-on, now can't find the paths to the shares. Remote Access sought by Netgear to poke at the beast...
  • Level 3 support have poked at it, and I now have anonymous access to the files (Hurray!). They still need to get back in and remove the alien security settings that still exist...
