Since Windows 11 Update, Unable to Access RNDuoV2.0 Dashboard/Admin Screen
Dear Forum Members It's been a good while since I have been on this forum, about March 2023, and as you can imagine I have run into some technical problems that I cannot work out for myself and w...

Problem 1) Back in March 2023, I could access my RNDuo v2's admin screens by installing the Apache2_2.2.34-arm-0.0.1.bin utility on all my V2's. However lately, I have totally lost this “admin access” facility, despite trying all of my five browsers, i.e. Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Edge and AVG.
What error are you getting when you try to access the web ui?
Have you tried disabling antivirus (and any internet security software) running on the PC?

Problem 2) One of my RNDuo v2's has a partial failure, I think the internal network card is having problems because no other device on my network can communicate with this device anymore, even though it can still be seen by but not accessed by RAIDar v6.0.
Is the IP address of this NAS in the range of your LAN subnet?

Problem 3) Which is not really a problem but a search for some extra knowledge, I have just installed two 4TB WD Red Plus HDs in my RN104, both disks are now formatted and running as Raid 1.
What will happen if and when I add two more (unformatted/unused) WD Reds to my RN104?
If you are using XRAID:
- If you add two 4 TB drives, then the volume would be converted to RAID-5 and expand from 4 TB (~3.64 TiB) to 12 TB (~10.91 TiB). Note you could just add one 4 TB drive and expand to 8 TB (~7.27 TiB).
- If you add two larger disks (of the same size), then the capacity rule is "sum the disks and subtract the largest" So if you added two 8 TB, the capacity would grow to 16 TB. In this scenario, you would need to add two larger drives in order for the NAS to use all the space on the disks.
- If you add smaller disks, the NAS will ignore them.

Hi StephenB
Guess what, I was half way through writing my answers to your queries yesterday when my Internet connection went down. Luckily, I found the problem, the main internal telephone cable failed, and so I replaced it with a new one.
Now on with my reply.
Thanks for your reply, I will try to answer your questions as best I can:
You asked, in reply to my Problem 1)
What error are you getting when you try to access the web ui?
There are no errors, as such, just all my browsers are timing out.
Have you tried disabling antivirus (and any internet security software) running on the PC?
No, I've not disabled my Internet Security Software because I've not needed to before but I will try it now that you have suggested it. However, my RN102 and RN104 can still be accessed as before, i.e. no change.
You also asked, in reply to my Problem 2)
Is the IP address of this NAS in the range of your LAN subnet?
Yes it is, nothing has changed on my network, my IP and subnet addresses are still the same.
As for my RN104, thanks for that info as I was not 100% sure, although I suspected it, that the disk space would grow if I added an additional 2 x 4TB (or bigger) HDs.
Going back to the RNDuoV2.0 that partially failed, RAIDar (v.6) reports that this device is healthy, although the Admin, Browse and Locate buttons, when pressed, cannot find this device. I now believe that I did not vet this device properly before buying it from Ebay. I guess that since I've had many successful purchases I became too blasé, let my guard down and ended up purchasing a dud.
Anyway, I've purchased an external HD, a 4TB passport from WD, and plan to see if I can backup my data from that faulty RNDuoV2.0, using the front USB socket and backup button, in order to get my info back.
BTW, just found out that FW6.10.10, on my RN102 & 104, has locked certain features in place, i.e. I cannot upgrade plex, either automatically or manually, I'm stuck at version 1.11.3.4803. Nor can I downgrade the FW back to 6.10.9. where the updating facilities still existed.
Maybe I've got this wrong but until I can get my RN102 & RN104 working properly, i.e. do what I need them to do, I'm somewhat stuck.
My ReadyNAS adventures continue.
Cheers in advance
UK Bob

You should be able to downgrade to 6.10.9. What error are you getting when you try?
Note there is a workaround for plex. You can upload and install the deb file as if it were a firmware update.
That said, you should also apply the modifications in post 37 here:
This will need to be re-applied after every firmware update and likely after every OS reinstall. This mod isn't needed immediately, but if a plex update requires a new linux library, it will without this.

Can you ping the NAS IP address?
Have you tried https://nas-ip-address/admin (using the real IP address)? Or just used RAIDar?

Hi StephenB
I am having difficulty trying to understand your reply, no doubt this is my fault due to my advancing age (near 70).
Anyway, I'd like to try something else, i.e. install Plex 1.41x on my RN102, running FW 6.10.10, from scratch. You see, I've deleted Plex 1.11 from my device because it was causing problems without any obvious way of applying a solution, so I switched off Plex and deleted it.
However, I do not see anyway of installing Plex 1.41x manually on my RN102, whereas I could quite easily click a virtual button on my RNDuoV2.0, search my PC's HD and install or upgrade my Plex app from there. But there seem to be no such facility on the RN102 or RN104, what am I missing?
Here is the Apps section of my Admin page, as you can see there is nothing there that indicates a facility to either manually install or update an application.
Also, the Upload and Available Apps buttons both give me the following error.
So you see I am stuck, I cannot see any facility where I can do anything to affect a pre-installed application or install a new one.
You mentioned , in your previous post, the following:
Note there is a workaround for plex. You can upload and install the deb file as if it were a firmware update.
However, I cannot see where this can be done.
Can you please "Jack and Jill" me through this process, i.e. explain it in a way my poor nearly 70 year old brain can understand.
Thanks in advance
UK Bob

Hi StephenB
Back in September, I wrote:

You replied: Have you tried disabling antivirus running on the PC?
Your solution works, I managed to temporarily switch off my AVG Internet Security application and I found, to my amazement, that I could now re-access my RNDuoV2.0's dashboards again.
Cheers StephenB
