SLOW RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks (with dual redundancy)
I have a Pro 6, I create volume with 5 disks (3TB each). After sync completed, I added 6th disk as dual redundancy.
It is very slow to restrip after 6th disk is added. Is this normal? It will take more than 10 day!!!!!!
Configuration: RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks (with dual redundancy)
Status: Restriping 1% complete, Time to finish 276 hr 8 min, Speed 2891 KB/sec
RAID Disks:
Ch 1 : Seagate ST33000651AS [2794 GB]
2790 GB allocated
Ch 2 : Seagate ST33000651AS [2794 GB]

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredPersonally I use 802.3ad LACP (requires a switch that supports that and is configured appropriately). I haven't tried the other options.
- cmchoiAspirantI have a Netgear GS108T, do you have steps to config it to use 802.3ad LACP?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe v1 or the v2?
- cmchoiAspirantGS108Tv2 with 5.0.5.4
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredFound my GS108Tv2. Now I'll update the firmware on it.
- cmchoiAspirantThanks. When using "round robin", I get a huge number "Transmit Packet Errors".
The error is write to NAS, but I get over 110MB/s
When read from NAS, there is no "Transmit Packet Errors".
I have jumbo frame enable on NAS.
On switch, I have 9216 for both NIC to NAS. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat about if you have Jumbo Frames disabled?
- cmchoiAspirantThen the speed to NAS is slow around 25 to 35 MB/s. This defeats NIC teaming.

You should normally be getting quicker than that without Jumbo Frames using the Pro 6. However the slower performance would be due to the resync. Best to wait for that to complete and then do network performance testing. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTo use LACP you'd open the web admin interface for the switch and go to Switching > LAG > Basic > LAG Membership and add the ports on the switch your NAS is connected to to a LAG.
Then under Switching > LAG > Basic > LAG configuration you'd make sure that the LAG is enabled. The LAG type should be set to LACP (I think).
You'd also need to configure the NAS to use LACP (note you will need an ethernet cable connected to each port to see the teaming options).
Not sure about the order to do all these things in but it shouldn't be hard to figure out.
