[SOLVED] RN102 - Problems?! #23673790
Hello,
I'm not sure how to go on. I've a RN102 with 2 3TB WD RED disks (WD30EFRX) inside.
Yesterday I tried to setup for the first time but I got an IP different from my home network. So I changed ip on the NAS according to my network.
After that the NAS was unreachable. Therefore I decided to make a factory reset and now I can't find my NAS anymore.
2 Questions:
a) How long does it approximately take to make a factory reset with the above inventory using brand new disks?
b) is there a possibility to do a boot using usb-drive with firmware installed on?
Hope somone could answer my questions

- fneurieserAspirantI'll give it a try.
- fneurieserAspirantSo, now it booted into tech support mode with removed drives. Only the power led is on.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you see it in RAIDar?
- fneurieserAspirantOkay, I can see it now in RAIDar and now have the 5-digit ID. I posted it in the ticket.

Thanks a lot for you assistance in solving this issue.

Turns out setting a static I.P. for the MAC address of the NIC in the NAS in the router's settings fixed it.
Personally I much prefer setting a static I.P. in the router's settings than doing it in the Dashboard of the NAS. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Me too. I use address reservation in my router extensively - using reserved addresses for everything that is regularly connected to my network. It simplifies both port forwarding and troubleshooting. And if I need to change equipment, or change to a new IP address space, everything still connects properly without needing to be reconfigured before the changeover.mdgm wrote: ...Personally I much prefer setting a static I.P. in the router's settings than doing it in the Dashboard of the NAS...
It gives you all the benefits of static addresses, and all the benefits of DHCP too.
