Squeezebox Media Server and AirPlay?
Hi all, I wish to use airplay on my squeezebox devices via the squeezebox media server (multi room purpose). Can one of you point me in the right direction? I'm new to the whole NAS thing but no...

So if you don't have a squeezebox player, then you can ignore that one.
If what you really want to know is "can I stream directly from the NAS directly to my apple TV, iphone, or ipad with airplay", then the answer to that is unfortunately no. Apply keeps the airplay service locked down, so you need Apple itunes to do that. You can export the iTunes library to a real itunes install (accessing it from a Mac or PC). But none of the linux servers can support "home sharing", which is needed to directly access the servers from an iDevice.
You can access your music and videos with third party apps, though the best ones are paid (and there aren't any that work on the apple TV).
You can also store the media on the NAS, but run iTunes itself on a PC or Mac - then airplay, etc all work whenever the PC is on and iTunes is running.
Using a remote app I would say you can stream directly from readynas (OS6) to Apple tv or airport express. See my post here:
