Squeezebox Media Server and AirPlay?

Last time I tried remote it didn't actually work unless I had a real itunes also running on the network. Though I haven't tried it lately.
In any event, most people want playback on the their iphone or ipad, and unfortunately apple remote doesn't help for that.
