Strange with rSync duplication to external USB

Hi Support;

I've been using a product called Retrospect for years to backup our network and the rSync feature on the ReadyNAS PRO unit we have to duplicate the changed data over to a rotating group of USB external disks to take offsite. This has worked well for years...

However, I recently upgraded the ReadyNAS firmware to the very latest release, where it seams each time I run the script to duplicate the data, it wipes the source directories?! I've only kicked it off twice since the firmware upgrade and both times I've had to recover the backup repository from the previous external disk. Without the rSync scripts kicking off, the backups work fine and there is no data loss.

I have the 'Remove deleted files from source" ticked, which in the past has just deleted files that were removed form the source backup folders - to keep them in Sync, everything else is un-ticked so I'm confused how this is happening.

Has anything changed in rSync that could do this? The scripts haven't changed, nor has the backup solution.

Richard

  • Doh.. ignore this. I found a rogue backup job which was overwriting the directory!
