Swapping single drive created a new volume rather than expanding on RR2304 / ReadyNAS2304
I swapped a single disk in my ReadyNAS 2304 (RR2304) array, expecting the single existing volume to be expanded. Instead, a new volume was created, but doesn't seem to be actually building.
I did swap the disks while the unit was powered off, and I expect that could have something to do with the problem. Does anyone know if I should replace the original disk, or if there is a procedure to manually initate a rebuild and expansion?

Was the disk formatted (and in a ReadyNAS before)?

With XRAID or RAID-5, you need to upgrade two disks in order to see expansion.
The capacity rule is "sum the disks and subtract the largest".
