Transferring Drives from Older to Newer NAS

We use software RAID and all the settings are on the disks.
However your old Infrant (Sparc) ReadyNAS uses a different CPU architecture, RAID format and filesystem to your RN516 so it's not a simple matter of moving the disks across. Also simply moving disks across assumes that the chassis the disks are being moved to is empty.
If the Infrant NAS is dead you can follow this procedure: ReadyNAS: Migrating disks from RAIDiator 4.1 or RAIDiator 5.3 to ReadyNAS OS 6
As your Infrant NAS is not dead you should get new disks for the RN516 and use backup jobs: How do I back up data from a RAIDiator 4 system to a ReadyNAS OS 6 system?
You could then reverse the source and destination for the backup jobs to use the Infrant ReadyNAS to backup your RN516 going forward.
