Updating to RAIDiator 4.2.19
Hello, I have recently updated my OS X to Lion and I can no longer connect to my ReadyNas Pro using AFP. I have seen on the web that this problem can be solved by updating the firmware to version 4...

If I recall correctly my NAS firmware is 4.2.5 (I don't have access right now). I guess the update process is the same no matter the current version.
I have gone through the link you provided very fast and it seems to me that your recommendation it to store all the data in a external drive. However, I don't have enough space to keep all these data. Is it possible that updating to 4.2.19 leaves my data intact?
