Upgrade from ReadyNas V2 to Ready NAS 31400

HI,

I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v2 wit 4 x 3TB 3.5 HDD's having serial number 2V0429ED00187 and firmware RAIDiator 5.3.11.

I am planning to upgrade to the ReadyNAS RN31400 and was wondering if I can just swap my 4 disks to the new enclosure and retain all my backed up data or will I have to start a new system from scratch. If the latter, what is the best, easiest or safest way to transfer my data from my old unit to the new one?

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Mario

  • The latter. There is a procedure that support can use to attempt to recover data from an array taken from a NV+ v2 using a RN314 but they would need to charge for that so you should only consider that if the NV+ v2 chassis has failed.

Have a read of Migrating disks from RAIDiator to OS 6

Depending on how much data you have etc. you may wish to backup your data to a USB disk or to buy new disks and use backup jobs to copy the data across to the new unit. An advantage of getting new disks is that you could then reverse the backup jobs to backup the data from the 314 to your NV+ v2 going forward. After all no important data should be stored on just the one device.
