Hi,
I have a Duo for which I recently upgraded the RAM to 1GB from the default 250MB.
The installation process (including memory tests) was very easy and went without issue. The changes I have seen aren't massive but they were very welcome.
To put the improvements into some sort of context, here's what I use my Duo for currently:
1) Hosting a photos website
2) Streaming Videos and music to a PS3
3) General file backup
For use (1), I was able to modify the apache configuration to significantly increase the number of users and requests it could process. Making the changes had the impact of increasing the memory requirement of apache, which could now be met by the increase in RAM.
For use (2) I have seen that video playback (initial buffering) and rewind/fast-forward is significantly improved as well as video/audio synchronisation within a given video stream. Once I run these streams over a PoE connection instead of wireless I expect it to improve even more.
For use (3) I have seen little improvement, however I have not carried out any performance testing. The file transfer speeds I am seeing are more than enough so any improvement would have simply made this better.
Hope this helps
Steve
