I have used them by plugging them into the USB port on my ReadyNAS, and continue to use them between the NAS and my Windows 7 laptop, with no issues except for one. I noticed that when I plug them back into Windows, the "Extras" folder, and the folder that contains the Mac software, are corrupt. I ran chkdsk and got:
Deleting index entry Extras in index $I30 of file 5.
Deleting index entry My Passport Apps for Mac in index $I30 of file 5.
Deleting index entry MYPASS~1 in index $I30 of file 5.
815422 index entries processed.
Index verification completed.
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.
Those two folders now no longer appear.
When I had them plugged into the NAS, they appeared as files (rather than folders), with a size of 1.5GB rather than 1.5MB, and I was unable to delete them.
Has anyone seen this before? Should I be worried? Why would this happen?
I should not worry to much windows is just checking the index and deleting invalid entries, which may be deleted or overwritten files that do not exist any more.
