WD Tv live freezes/crashes accessing network shares help

I am in the same boat. Had the gen1 of the WDTV (worked like magic) and I recently bought the new WDTV Live to upgrade. I am massively regretting this so far (if it aint broke...), prob should have bought the Apple TV to play with.
The interface is nicer, but what am I really getting? I didnt mind the folder layout, and it was fast. This seems to be more fancy, less function.
I also cant get the network shares to mount, i get stuck at the same place.
If Plex had a real interface for this like they suggested, it would be a winner. If it doesnt improve soon its going to eBay.
