Will a RAID array formatted....
I know the ReadyNAS boxes are starting to show their age, but recently my ReadyNAS came out of a 15 month storage and I can't get my computer to recognize the drives. I have them in a RAID 0 configuration. My question is, if I determine that the enclosure is the problem, can I simply remove the drives and install them in another ReadyNAS enclosure (different model) and expect them to work? I think the chipset/software used to format the RAID configuration in one box may not work in another. Is that a correct assumption? I'd rather not loose the data if I can help it. thx.
PS. If I can't save the box (or data) and I still want a simple NAS box, what are some of the better brands/models available today that will hold 2-4 drives?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredLooking at your product registration you have a Duo v1, not the new RN2120 (4-bay ARM rackmount). I have corrected your profile.
Were you using a single RAID-0 volume or multiple RAID-0 volumes?
You can't move them to a newer NAS model and expect the NAS to boot up. However we do have procedures for recovering the data using our newer models assuming the disks and array are fine. It is important that the procedure is followed carefully as instructed by support and that the disks are only inserted when requested. We do have paid data recovery options to handle some situations.
What happens when you attempt to boot your Duo? Do any lights come on? Do you hear the fan running? Can you see it in RAIDar? If you see it in RAIDar what do you see in the Info (far right) column?
Welcome to the forum! - redjrAspirantI have a single RAID 0 volume stripped across 2 drives. I cannot see the drive in RAIDar, the power light flashes and it cannot be turned off - short of pulling the plug. No light activity on the lEDs at all. If I were to get a working model of the same Duo v1 from, say eBay and put my drives in, should I expect it to boot if the drives are still good? That's the gist of my question.

Also units purchased off eBay may not be in a reliable condition.
