I'm not sure why Windows does anything... :D

    Do the changed credentials work?
  • Because windows takes ComputerName as Domain name when PC its not tied into Domain network.
Basically Local Domain Name = Computer name and it treats user accounts as Domain accounts, even if PC is not tied into domain network.
    Hence the naming scheme "COMPUTERNAME\UserName"

Why windows works this way, go figure...

In the case of the NAS logon, normal Windows convention would be NASNAME\UserName.

So it is most consistent to change it to that in the credentials manager.

However, if it works, there is no need to do anything...

It works without it on legacy 4.x not sure about 6.x, but in theory it should work also.
It doesn thave any significance unless youre running AD server on your network and NAS is also tied to it.
  • either way it all works , except the "UserNameShare" in the ReadyNas104,,, when I click on this "UserNameShare" it keeps asking me for its password to this "UserNameShare" and will not open.
Note: all others Backup,Video,Music,Documents Open up.... ???

Are you talking about the private "home" share?

Are the permissions or owners for "UserNameShare" different from the others?
